Testopel® is the only FDA approved implantable testosterone pellet. Administered in a simple office-based procedure every three to six months, Testopel® is indicated for the treatment of men with conditions associated with deficiency or absence of endogenous testosterone.

Testosterone Deficiency

As many as five million men in the United States may not produce enough testosterone. Testosterone deficiency, also called hypogonadism can result in a number of signs and symptoms. These may include fatigue, decreased sex drive, difficulty concentrating, hot flashes, irritability and depression.

Testosterone replacement therapies

Several methods of testosterone delivery are used to treat hypogonadism in men including topical gels (administered daily), intramuscular injections (administered by a physician once or twice each month) or implantable pellets (also administered by physicians but only every four to six months). Your physician will help you determine if you may need testosterone and which of these types of therapy may be best for you.

When to seek medical attention for low testosterone

You can self administer a simple test to determine if you may suffer from low testosterone levels. If you have a number of the symptoms of testosterone deficiency you will want to see your physician. Your physician may elect to complete further testing to determine testosterone levels circulating in your bloodstream as well as eliminate any of the contraindications (reasons not to use) for therapy. He may elect to treat you directly or refer you to a specialist such as a urologist or an endocrinologist for further consultation.
